Samba Parades & Street Parties
Rio’s carnival attracts approximately one million people from different parts of the globe. The pulsating sounds of the Samba Enredos will set the rhythm of the 13 samba schools Competition parade at the Sambadrome on February 11(Sunday) and 12 (Monday). There are also lots of street parades. The best ones are those hosted by Blocos (blocks – Only percussion instruments) and Bandas (Bands) – Carnival groups which include bass instruments in their performances. They march through pre-determined routes and neighborhoods and grow each minute as Cariocas (locals) and tourists join the parties.
